AT4X vs. AT4 power seats

Actually, there is a small but important distinction to make between the GMC Sierra 1500 and the 2500 HD when it comes to those premium seat features.

While both trucks are incredibly capable and luxurious in the AT4 trim, the 16-way power-adjustable seats with massage are currently exclusive to the AT4X trim level, rather than the standard AT4.

Here is the breakdown of how these seating options typically shake out:

16-Way Seats with Massage (The "AT4X" Experience)

The 16-way power seats with a massage function are part of the ultra-premium AT4X and Denali Ultimate packages.1

  • Sierra 1500 AT4X: Comes standard with these seats. They feature full-grain leather and a variety of massage settings (kneading, rolling, etc.) designed for long trips or post-off-roading recovery.2
  • Sierra 2500 HD AT4X: Similar to the 1500, the Heavy Duty version of the AT4X also receives these high-end massaging seats to help manage the fatigue of towing and hauling.3

10-Way Seats (The Standard "AT4" Experience)

The standard AT4 (non-X) package for both the 1500 and 2500 HD is still very well-equipped, but the seating is slightly different:

  • Adjustment: Usually features 10-way power driver and passenger seats (including 2-way lumbar support).
  • Features: These seats include heating and ventilation, but they do not include the massage function or the additional 6 points of adjustment found in the AT4X.
